Saab limits boost in the first few gears so that the boost will not shock you but if you drive like an idiot you may have to work to control it. Consider that a Toyota Camry and Nissan Maxima both have more actual HP - and those are hardly cars that you have to drive "carefully". It's the turbo and the surge
that makes it more interesting. However, it's actually more "progressive" power than a larger, higher HP normally aspirated motor would have. It take a little getting used to but once you do it's a barrel of fun. I've driven cars with more power but never more fun and more useable HP than the Saab.
