Actually, it *does* work. You can change the serial number. Edit the
quicken.ini file in your c:\windows directory.

Go down to the [Registration] area and make sure that these are the
only two keys under that area:

RegistrationCount=0
SerialNumber=803533

Save it. Now, open Quicken, select Registration by Telephone, and it
will tell you to enter in the registration number for serial # 803533.
Voila!
